Cross-industry Inter Cluster Connect, Barcelona23 May, 2016
A delegation of Slovenian policy makers and five Slovenian clusters will visit Accio and clusters from Catalonia. It will be a two days workshop dedicated to knowledge and best practice exchange between two regions.
Event is organized as the next step in cluster development as clusters become more and more innovation oriented with open and cross-cluster approach. From Be-Wiser partners ICT Technology Network Institute from Ljubljana and Eurecat from Barcelona are directly involved. In addition participation of BeWiser partners from Cork and Paris are expected as well.
As smart specialization stategies have been accepted in EU, the focus is now on the implementation phase. One of the major topics for the policy makers is bringing the nicely prepared smart spcialization plans down to earth and take care for successful implementaion. In EU clusters are considered as the implementation tools (mechanisms) which are most suitable to help regional smart specializations come true.
One of the steps forwrad in the cluster development is new direction supported by the EU and EC for the clusters to become more innovative. With this regards this workshop between the two EU regions, Catalonia and Slovenia, is going to take place. It can be a game changer in cluster development due to a combination of interregional cooperation, inter-cluster cooperation and policy makers engagement.

Innovation is not created by isolated organization but mostly in dynamic environments where competent organisations interact in a constructive and complementary way to assimilate existing knowledge and generate new ideas and products. Therefore clusters have a role to play in the development of pan-European collaborative linkages which can help Europe to compete economically with the rest of the world.
The role of clusters in internationalization will be discussed in our dedicated networking session, which brings together experts from across Europe from all elements of the Triple Helix (‘academia,’ ‘Government’ and ‘industry’) to share their thoughts, goals and dreams for the development of pan-European collaborative linkages.Innovation is not created by isolated organization but mostly in dynamic environments where competent organisations interact in a constructive and complementary way to assimilate existing knowledge and generate new ideas and products. Interactive Clustering Workshop Series – 28-29 September, 2015, Cork, Ireland.28 September, 2015
CIT Seminar aims to Build International Collaborations for Irish firms with Biopharma, ICT, Agriculture and Energy clusters in Catalonia and Germany.
Start-ups, SMEs and multinationals alike are seeing the potential to create jobs from clustering, the focus of a series of seminars in CIT on September 28 and 29. CIT’s Eoin Byrne and Dr John Hobbs, organisers of the seminar series, say local companies, policy makers and academics are enthusiastic about the lessons they can learn from visiting clustering experts from Germany and Spain, where thousands of companies cite the benefits of clustering for their sustained growth.
One of Minister Bruton’s and Ireland’s Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation’s five strategic ambitions included in the 2015 National Action Plan for Jobs is to build world-class clusters in key sectors of opportunity. The CIT-hosted clustering seminars are being run in partnership with Cork County Council, and are included in the South West Regional Action Plan for Jobs.
The series will feature four workshops: one for academics – ‘Cluster Analysis’; one from Start Ups, SMEs and MNCs ‘Building International Collaborations’; one for policy makers ‘Building Economic Growth through Clusters’; and one for cluster managers ‘Cluster Organisation development’. To share knowledge with these key groups which are constituent in an Industry Clusters’s Triple Helix and develop thoughts on how these groups fit into and / or support clusters in Catalonia and Karlsruhe.
One of the big plus points for the seminar series is that we have confirmed the attendance of Joan Martí Estévez, Director of Cluster Development, ACCIÓ (Catalan Agency for Competitiveness), Barcelona, Spain and Tamara Högler, Head of Innovations and International Affairs CyberForum e.V., Karlsruhe, Germany to lead the sessions at the series. They can both bring practical experience from their engagement within clusters and policy in countries which have twenty years’ experience implementing cluster policies. Joan Martí Estévez, is responsible for managing 25 ‘cluster managers’ across various sectors of regional importance in Catalonia (www.catalonia.com/en). Tamara Högler, has experience as a cluster manager in CyberForum whom have over 1,000 SMEs who constitute their cluster membership (www.en.cyberforum.de).
From the Be Wiser project, Tamara Högler (CyberForum e.V.) will present the Business Roaming Agreement (BRA, www.clusterize.org) and John Hobbs (CIT) the Cluster Performance Measurement Software – V-LINC www.cit.ie/vlinc.
Cork County Council are sponsoring and helping to organise the “Building International Collaborations” session for industry. To register for the event please fill out the form @ http://www.itcork.ie/events/.

The challenge of security in new technologies17 December, 2014
Increasingly, the wireless technology plays a major role in our lives. We all know the great benefits of a mobile hyper connectivity: to have office anywhere while travelling or are at home, controlling and coordinating intelligently automation elements of a smart home, share content between devices without physically connecting them, etc.

In this event we introduce Be Wiser activities and main results, and the current status in R+D security. In addition we review typical risk cases.
