The world as we know it is changing. Computers no longer work in isolation. Our phones, tablets and watches are constantly connected to the internet. The connected world we live in is getting ready to become even more connected as devices are coming out that are smarter and promise to make our lives a lot simpler. All we need to do is plug them to a network so that they can talk to each other and us.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is taking over the world and it is the reason IPv6 is becoming more and more relevant. Your fridge, kettle, light bulb, car and toaster will all be connected to the internet, they will be smart, autonomous, and they will make your life easier, more efficient and more economical.
But as with any new technology trend the market gets flooded with products not designed with security in mind. Unlike other products though, IoT devices are a lot more pervasive and them being vulnerable make us a lot more vulnerable.
A group of security researchers at BitDefender put a few devices to the test. Suffice to say that test results were not promising. Follow the link bellow to read more: response http://download.bitdefender.com/resources/files/News/CaseStudies/study/87/Bitdefender-2016-IoT-A4-en-EN-web.pdf .
